My life has been about doing more on less.
More work, more play, more volunteering, on less sleep, less food, less time. It’s interesting how the observations we make in life and the pressures we take on shape our lives. Don’t get me wrong, my curiosity, work ethic and get-it-done nature have served me well. But depending on how we take care of ourselves day after day, there can come a time when ambition, body and spirit are no longer in sync. The body fatigues, the brain gets foggy, the vibrancy seems to drop out of life. That time came for me in 2011; actually well before 2011, but I wasn’t paying attention.
My career as an educator began 35+ years ago as a teacher of children with learning disabilities. Over the years, I earned a Master’s Degree in Reading Education, served as a supportive reading teacher, taught process writing at a Wisconsin university, started a writing and editing business, worked with my husband in several business start-ups, and eventually returned to the classroom to follow my passion for nutrition. I am a runner, a cyclist, a swimmer, a hiker, a snowshoer, a tea sipper, a reader, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a wife and a step-mother. While all of these accomplishments and endeavors may sound impressive, they are really just phases of my evolution. No single event defines me today. Rather they are what allow me to understand transitions, re-inventions and the inevitable stressors that life presents on a daily basis.
You may feel you have little control over your stressors in life, but you can control the nourishment you provide your body to help it run at its optimal level. My work as a nutrition consultant is to help you feel your best through real, whole food nutrition and lifestyle choices that support your health and wellbeing, especially during times of high stress and transitions. My role is to educate, guide and support you in strengthening your immune system so you can better respond to the inevitable stressors of life.
